At Meals on Wheels, we believe that every individual deserves access to nutritious meals, regardless of age, income, or mobility. Our service is dedicated to delivering wholesome meals to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and anyone facing barriers in accessing healthy food.

Our menu offers a variety of nutritious meals catering to different dietary needs. Once enrolled, you can choose meals that suit your taste and nutritional requirements.

Our compassionate volunteers deliver meals right to your doorstep, ensuring not only the delivery of nutritious food but also a friendly check-in. We operate year-round, reaching out to our community members with warmth and nourishment.

Embarking on your Meals on Wheels journey is a simple and straightforward process. We’re here to provide nutritious meals and a touch of companionship right to your doorstep. Whether you’re seeking assistance for yourself or a loved one, signing up is easy. Follow the steps below to begin enjoying wholesome meals delivered by our caring volunteers.

Our friendly team will contact you via email or phone to discuss the best meal plan for your needs and provide the final cost.

You can easily pay for your ordered meals online. We will send you all the details on how to complete your payment.

4. Enjoy your meals!

Our caring volunteers will deliver meals to you daily between 10:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Our meal plans are made by expert cooks and nutritionists, with all meal offerings being healthy and tasty, having controlled sodium, fat, and sugar. The menus are approved by a registered dietitian to ensure balanced meals throughout the week.

Fresh Lunch Program

Our Fresh Lunch Program ensures that our clients receive healthy and nutritious meals, personally created by our nutritionist and Meal Center Director. Each meal aligns with the daily recommended dietary allowances as established by federal guidelines.

With over 30 meal choices on our menu, we provide our seniors with a wide variety of options. We prepare more than 700 fresh lunches every day in our restaurant-grade kitchen, immediately package them to maintain freshness, and deliver them the very next day.

Offering a multitude of options, these meals are created and prepared by our meal partner, award-winning Langlois Fancy Frozen Ffoods.

The meals are crafted using the highest quality of ingredients and care, then immediately flash-frozen to ensure quality and taste. The meals are delivered shortly thereafter to our clients to ensure the highest quality and freshness.

San Diego County Meal Program

Our menu features a wide variety of dishes, expertly crafted by our partner, the acclaimed Langlois Fancy Frozen Foods. Using premium ingredients and high quality preparation methods, each meal is thoughtfully created. To preserve their exceptional quality and flavor, these culinary delights are rapidly frozen right after cooking. We prioritize timely delivery, ensuring our customers receive these gourmet meals within a 6-week timeframe, guaranteeing top-notch freshness and taste with every serving.

This is a County-funded program that ensures our qualified seniors aged 60 and older throughout the County can receive fully-subsidized (i.e., free) meals. To qualify, seniors must exhibit at least two limitations in Activities of Daily Living, OR are homebound, OR socially isolated.

This program not only provides free meals to qualified seniors, but it also provides a free meal for their caretakers.

Who can sign up for the San Diego County Meal Program?

This program is available to seniors aged 60 and older who exhibit at least two limitations in Activities of Daily Living presented in this list.

Bathing

Ability to clean oneself, get in and out of shower or bath, and perform other activities of personal hygiene such as shaving or brushing one’s teeth.

Eating

Feeding oneself by getting food into the body from a receptacle such as a plate, cup, or table, by a feeding tube, or intravenously.

Dressing

Ability to put on clothes, and not struggle significantly with common clothing accessories such as buttons or zippers. This also includes putting on and taking off all items of clothing and any necessary braces, fasteners, or artificial limbs.

Toileting

Ability to use and get on and off the toilet and performing associated personal hygiene.

Continence

Ability to control one’s bladder and bowel functions, or, when unable to maintain control of bowel or bladder function, the ability to perform associated personal hygiene, including caring for a catheter or colostomy bag.

Homebound or social isolation

Being confined to one’s home, resulting in limited or no interaction with the outside world. This includes an inability to leave the home independently, a lack of engagement in social activities, and minimal contact with friends, family, or the community.

Mobility

Ability to stand, walk and/or climb stairs.

Transferring

Ability to walk and get in and out of bed, or chair.
