giving circles

We are so fortunate to have donors who come back to us, year after year, to show their support for our seniors. We invite you to consider joining one of our circles for a deeper connection to our mission and to help ensure Meals on Wheels will be around for generations to come.

Sustainer’s Circle: Recurring Online

Donors who choose to support Meals on Wheels San Diego County every month for any amount may find it easier to budget monthly all while helping Meals on Wheels keep our wheels rolling, even in summer months when donations typically drop off. Monthly support is key to our ability to deliver meals for each and every day of the year.

Even small amounts make a difference when donated every month.

Your monthly gift provides a steady source of income that will provide weeks, months, and years of elderly help.

You can make your monthly donation online and determine the amount of your monthly gift.

Members of the Sustainer’s Circle will be recognized annually in our Annual Report.

Legacy Giving

Every act of giving is personal and unique. Being a part of our Legacy Society, by remembering our San Diego seniors through a will, trust, designation or other planned gift, will have substantial meaning and impact.

Legacy Society members share a dedication to helping our senior friends, family and neighbors. They often have a soft spot in their hearts, remembering when they delivered meals or how a family member was helped by our services. Legacy Society members wish to see this wonderful work continue within our community for decades to come. All too often, meaningful planned giving gifts go unrecognized because they come at the end of the donors’ lives. Forward-thinking donors have the ability to plan a legacy gift, regardless of current assets or income. Your legacy gift will be recognized through our Legacy Society membership list.

If you have already included, or intend to include Meals on Wheels San Diego County in your will, trust or other planned gift, we encourage you to notify us so we may honor you as a member. It is our greatest pleasure to recognize and thank all donors during their lifetimes. Should you wish to have your planned gift go unrecognized, we will also honor this request. Additionally, a gift made “in honor of” a family member, or individual, will also be accommodated Please use the following address for your planned giving designations:

Linda's story

Linda is single, a proud cat mom, and has only recently begun to walk again without her wheelchair after 20 years of physical therapy and tenacity. Linda is a little camera shy but said we could post her “child” and one true love, Mavis the Cat. Linda appreciates how Meals on Wheels not only helps seniors stay independent in their homes, something for which she fiercely advocates, but that we recognize the importance of socialization for seniors – whether it be via human or not! Thank you, Linda, for supporting us through the years and choosing to continue your legacy of giving for many years to come!

Meals on Wheels is the only agency providing meals for 7 days a week, including holidays. Additionally, we cover the entire county, including delivery into the over 3,049 square miles of rural and unincorporated areas. Meals on Wheels San Diego County subsidizes 60% of the costs for meals, delivery, and other services provided, regardless of a senior’s ability to pay.

Distributing home-delivered meals and safety checks could not be accomplished without the help of our very large and caring volunteer workforce who deliver meals with a hug and a smile and ensure our homebound seniors are OK. Frequently the volunteer may be the only person the senior sees all day, providing human contact and a safety net, particularly for those seniors living alone. Lives are saved nearly every week as a result of acquiring the proper emergency personnel for someone who has fallen, had a stroke, or is simply in need of additional resources.
