MEAL DELIVERY

Volunteers prepare to deliver meals. Client receives home delivered meals.

Meals-on-Wheels offers the choice of one or two nutritious meals provided seven days a week including holidays. We offer four diet options: regular, diabetic, reduced fat/sodium, and easy to chew. Customers can select our standard meal plan consisting of a lunch and a dinner meal, or can choose one dinner meal, one lunch meal or a combination of two lunches or two dinners.

The lunch meal offers a variety of individually packaged sandwiches, fruits, salads and other tasty items prepared at our Meal Center. The dinner meal is a ready-to-heat entrée prepared especially for seniors by ConAgra Foods and Galley Foods. The entrees offer a wide selection of chicken, beef, pasta, pork and specialty dishes designed to provide great taste and good nutrition and can be delivered hot for those who have difficulty heating their own meals.

Lunch and dinner meals are delivered refrigerated to each client’s door by caring volunteers 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Both weekend days are delivered on Saturday.

ELIGIBILITY

We serve seniors age 60 and over, who are unable to ensure adequate nutrition for themselves. Some utilize our service while recovering from illness or surgery, others need meals indefinitely. Our clients require consistent nutrition and desire quality, good tasting meals to assist them remaining independent in their homes.

COST

Meals-on-Wheels charges a one time initiation fee of $35 to join the service. As a Meals-on-Wheels service member, each customer is automatically eligible for our other services at no cost.

Home delivered meals range in price depending on the meal option selected.

Choices:
Two-meal option is a maximum of $7.00 per day.
One-meal option is a maximum of $5.75 per day.

Fees charged are based on a senior’s ability to pay and may be adjusted.

The actual cost for two meals is on average 50% more than we charge. The funding provided by our donors allows the agency to subsidize the cost of meals for seniors.
